A Girl Lives Life

Last week I was on vacation and now I'm reflecting on the luxury of sleeping in and having a lax schedule. We didn’t take an exotic vacation. In fact, apart from spending a couple of days in Winona, we didn’t really go anywhere.

While I’m on the subject of Winona, I’ll mention two places that Tonya introduced me to. The first is Lark Toys - http://www.larktoys.com/. This huge toy store has a carousel, mini-golf, icecream and candy store. Expect to spend hours at this store and come out with lighter pockets. The second to a small town called Maiden Rock, WI -http://www.maidenrock.org. The drive there was beautiful and Tonya had me stop at the Smiling Pelican Bakery to pick up something yummy. We ended up getting lunch there along with treats. I would like to go again and have lunch in one of the restaurants in their cute downtown.

Okay, back to my vacation. I had researched a lot of things to do that were in the Twin Cities area. There were several highlights to our vacation. The first was that Helena turned 2 years old on July 19. We went to Chuck E. Cheese and then went to a concert in the park.

We also went to lumber Jack days in Stillwater, MN. Julie did some log rolling (for about 2 seconds). Helena was a DVD from Radio Disney for the dance competition. Julie won tickets to see a movie.

All in all it was a nice vacation and now I’m struggling with being back in the daily grind. I’ve pressed snooze several times every day this week and have been dragging all week long. I’m also resentful that I can’t spend the day with my kids going to the park and eating ice cream. I’m ready for another vacation.

This photo was taken from our trip to Aberdeen over the 4th of July. We visited the Grainery Cultural Center, a cute gallery and sculpture garden dedicated to local artists that is literaly in the middle of nowhere.
It was also during this trip that Julie had her first driving experience and I had too many near death experiences. I recently bought a new car though and I'm not sure when she'll be driving again. It is scary to think that she could get her learner's permit in 7 months. Ugh!

So thanks to Tonya, I'm trying my hand at blogging. We'll see how it goes.
